The Power of Networking on Linkedin Leads to Real World Connections

The day I joined LinkedIn was October 5, 2005. Per the website the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped nearly 124 points to 10,317.36 over inflation concerns that day. Working for the brokerage firm Charles Schwab & Co. at the time, it could make sense that this news made me anxious about my role and I decided to check out this new “Virtual rolodex” LinkedIn. It was amazing how quickly my network grew. Over the years I have used LinkedIn to stay in touch with former co-workers as they’ve moved on to bigger and better things, stay in touch with people I’ve met at events and conferences and I even was recruited for my last role that I had for 10 years at Bright House Networks via LinkedIn. I feel that LinkedIn has been good to me over the years, but I recently realized that I wasn’t harnessing the full power until I joined the Connected in Central Florida group.
